A Family Owned Business Dedicated to Care with Gratitude at its Core

We are a family-owned business with a mother and daughter as co-owners. We approach your loved ones just as we would our own family elders. We value this family orientation in all of our team members. This provides a comfortable and familiar feel to our caregiving experience.

Strong Leadership from an Experienced and Committed CEO

Jela Maretic

CEO and Co-Owner

We were founded under the vision and leadership of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jela Maretic, a healthcare professional with more than 30 years of experience in clinical areas including:

  • catastrophic care management
  • acute and subacute care
  • private duty care and staffing

With the last decade of her career focusing on homecare, Jela’s experience and knowledge in the field translate into better patient care. Jela recognizes that knowledge is power—and ensures that each team member is properly trained on an annual basis to keep up with the latest in modern-day medicine as it pertains to delivering the best home care.

Additionally, Jela fosters a family-owned and operated culture at Gratitude Homecare. She is committed to creating a beautifully kind environment for her team that leads to better relationship-building, communication, trust, empathy, security, and care for patients and their loved ones.

Jela loves to travel.  Most recently she spent time in Italy touring Rome, Vatican City, Florence, Senna and Umbria.  She looks forward to visiting Alaska in the near future.  At home, Jela is focused on spending time with her family which includes, three children and her two precious dogs.

Jela is committed to supporting charities and is a member of the Annual Walk Committee for the Alzheimer’s Association.  In addition, Gratitude Homecare is a supporter of the Phillips Fund, a scholarship-based charity providing the opportunity to attend Don Bosco Prep and Bergen Community College.

Compliance Adherence and Best Practices Implementation

Gabriela Sango

Director of Company Culture & Compliance and Co-Owner

Gabriela has a background in Human Resources, Recruiting, and Compliance gained through experience with other home care agencies.   She is focused on maintaining a strong compliance environment and strengthening recruiting at Gratitude Homecare through the implementation of industry-standard best practices.

In addition to her formal role at Gratitude Homecare, Gabriela recently founded a “Young Professionals in Healthcare” networking group, in conjunction with a sales director from a local assisted living residence.

Gabriela is recently engaged and in her free time, she loves being near water, whether at the beach in Long Island or on a boat in Greenwood Lake.  She loves to cook but she regrets that she has little time to cook.
